Week 12: Here come the symptoms

This week has been one of new experiences. Between getting over my cold, the new year and these new symptoms my week has been a full one. I am really excited about seeing my baby next week. Last time I saw it, it was just a little gummy bear at 8 weeks. This time we will really be able to see some detail. Best of all hubby is going to be able to make it so it is going to be an exciting experience.

So far I would say I have been really lucky. I haven't had much in the symptom department throughout this pregnancy. No morning sickness or nausea or really anything for that matter I really feel like myself. Well this week was the week of change. Possible because I am creeping up on my second trimester I have no idea but the we all let loose this week

First up this week is bloody nose. I know gross! I was in the shower this week and one just let loose. I am thankful I was in the shower and it did stop after about a minute. The weird thing about this though, is that I have never had a bloody nose before in my life. This was the first one I have ever experienced and I didn't like it. I am hoping I won't be frequently visited by these unwelcome visitors
The second one symptom I had this week was heartburn... If you ladies have had it you know how uncomfortable it can be. I have never had any previous heartburn before this pregnancy. The sad thing is, is that it happened with pasta, I love pasta. It is going to be tough to cut back on that. I guess your body really does change a lot while you are pregnant whether you notice it or not.
This week I can definitely tell when the baby moves. I get those flutters almost equivalent to butterflies but a little different kind of twitchy feeling haha. I have to really concentrate and be still to feel them but it is so amazing when you do. So I know I wasn't imagining last week. However, everything tells you that you shouldn't be able to feel the baby as a first time mom until about week 16. I guess I am just lucky? I'm sure other first time moms have felt them early too. I can't wait to feel an actual kick though.

Surviving Christmas With a Cold

This week has been just wonderful! (sarcasm) Came down with a cold just before Christmas. I haven't been sick in two years. Figures just before the holidays and when I'm pregnant I get sick! Needless to say it wasn't any fun. I was a trooper though and tried to enjoy myself through the Christmas weekend. Thank goodness my Grandma doctored me up with some natural stuff since us pregnant women aren't advised to be taking any cold medicines.

A nice nap on Christmas-eve, Vicks, cough drops and oregano oil to fight off the cold virus was all it took and I was feeling just about myself by Christmas morning! Grandmas are the best!

We had a blast on Christmas; we visited my hubby's mom. She makes the best food. It is all vegan and she really knows how to cook, love it! We watched "We Bought a Zoo," such a good movie. It was by far the best movie I have watched all year. Made me cry a few times, but, it was just so sweet and heartfelt. Definitely recommend it to you ladies.

Not much has been going on pregnancy-wise. Still no symptoms to report thus far. I am feeling really lucky! My mom told me that with her four pregnancies the only one she was sick with was my brother; the rest of us were girls. I am really hoping this is the case for me as well, I really want a little girl.

It may be silly but I could of swore I felt flutters this week a few times. I mean it was the same feeling about four different times. Kind of butterflies but not quite. Probably just wishful thinking haha.

Introducing The Nuttree Family!

~Our baby at 6 weeks~

Hello everyone! My name is Nycole. I am 22 years old and my husband, Ernest is 24. I am very honored to be able to write a journal for you guys. This is my very first pregnancy. I can't wait to get started sharing my ups and downs with you all. Although I am almost in my second trimester I would love to share what we have been experiencing throughout the first trimester in this first entry as well as introducing you to my husband and I.
My husband and I have been married for about a year and a half. We married in June 2010. Together now for over 6 years. Yes, we are high school sweethearts! We work so well together and it really has been a very blissful marriage thus far! I am so lucky to have such a thoughtful, caring and loving husband. I don't know what I would do without him.
My husband and I live in a small town in Oregon. We grew up here and just love it. We can't wait to raise our children here. We have so many ideas for family trips in the future. We bought a home within days of being married haha! That has been great so far. A bit of a fixer upper but we are having so much fun with it.

We love animals! We have two Chihuahuas, one tabby cat, a fish and 5 backyard chickens! We had dreams of owning a big piece of land out in the country. That didn't work out so we settled for a 1/4 acre in the suburbs which is perfect for now. The dogs have plenty of room to run and we have room for our chickens and summer garden. Soon enough I'll be setting up a jungle gym for our little one.
My husband and I both work. He manages a restaurant full time. I work as a bookkeeper part time. We are so blessed to have our jobs. I will continue to work after the baby is born. My job is very flexible so I am very lucky in that sense as well.
We started trying to conceive in September 2011. We found out we were expecting on October 28, 2011. You can imagine how ecstatic and surprised I was that it only took two months. I had this fear that it was going to take years, I really should stop using Google!
I tested a little early and I wasn't going to but I just had this nagging feeling. I was sure up until the 28th we weren't pregnant. However, on the 28th I had these very light cramps all day long and it was just very strange. My menstrual cycle did not start by the end of the day, so I was concerned and ran to the store to buy a test.
I got home and took the test right away but I couldn't look. I took the dogs out and watched them for a few minutes and went back in to see the results. To my shock there were two unmistakable lines. My heart was racing I couldn't believe what I was looking at! My husband was at work unfortunately. I had to share the news though, I couldn't wait until he got home. I took a picture of the test and sent it to him. I called him at work and said to check his phone. Thirty minutes later he called back just as excited as I was
So far my pregnancy has been so smooth. I have not had any morning sickness whatsoever. I have had minor light cramping here and there. At first my breasts were very tender! They are now much better although the soreness is still lingering. At weeks 4 and 7 I had this unsatisfiable hunger. I would have to eat nearly every thirty minutes! It hasn't returned since and I am beginning to creep up on week 12.
I can't wait to start off this journal for all of you. It's so fun to see how other women are handling their pregnancies. I hope you all enjoy the entries to come and we can follow each other along this beautiful journey to motherhood.
